External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S Jaishankar faced a security breach in London on Thursday when pro-Khalistanis demonstrators attempted to attack him as he left an event at Chatham House, organised in collaboration with the Indian High Commission in the UK.
A viral video shows a man rushing toward Jaishankar’s vehicle and tearing the Indian national flag. The incident unfolded in the presence of London police officers, who remained unresponsive despite the chaos and vandalism.
Pro-Khalistani demonstrators had gathered outside Chatham House well before Jaishankar’s arrival, chanting slogans in support of their cause and anti-India slogans. Inside, the EAM engaged in a discussion with Bronwen Maddox, Director and Chief Executive of Chatham House, covering India’s foreign policy, regional dynamics, and global economic challenges.
