Budget: National law university in JK soon, ₹50 crore allocated

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has proposed the establishment of a National Law University (NLU) in the Union Territory, with ₹50 crore allocated in the budget. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced this while presenting the UT’s first Budget.

Other major announcements include free travel for women, free electricity for AAY families, marriage assistance for AAY girls, and the establishment of water testing labs.

On Friday, Omar presented the first budget of Jammu and Kashmir in six years and said it is a roadmap for economic growth and a true reflection of people’s aspirations.

Earlier, the Legislative Assembly secretariat announced that there will be general discussions on the budget on March 8, 10, and 11. The Finance Minister, who is also the Chief Minister, will conclude discussion on the budget on March 11 with his reply.
