JK Budget: Zero stamp duty on property transfers to blood relatives

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has proposed waiving stamp duty on property transfers to blood relatives in Jammu and Kashmir. The announcement came as part of J&K UT’s maiden Budget presentation. The move aims to ease financial burdens on families and streamline property inheritance.

The budget also features free travel for women, 200 units free electricity for AAY families, increased marriage assistance, and the establishment of a National Law University.

On Friday, Omar presented the first budget of Jammu and Kashmir in six years and said it is a roadmap for economic growth and a true reflection of people’s aspirations.

Earlier, the Legislative Assembly secretariat announced that there will be general discussions on the budget on March 8, 10, and 11. The Finance Minister, who is also the Chief Minister, will conclude discussion on the budget on March 11 with his reply.
