Srinagar: Cyber Police Srinagar has taken legal action against eight persons misusing social media to ‘glorify terrorism, radicalise youth, and spread anti-national propaganda’.
In a statement, police said cyber surveillance identified eight persons operating social media accounts that promoted extremist ideologies. Following investigations, all were detained for questioning.
Proceedings have been initiated against four persons, Sajad Ahmad Lone, son of Bashir Ahmad Lone of Herpora Parigam, Kulgam; Zuhaib Zahoor, son of Zahoor Ahmad of Brein Nishat, Srinagar; Abrar Mushtaq, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of Nawabazar, Srinagar; Farhad Rasool, son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat of Check Dara, Harwan, Srinagar.
Additionally, four juveniles involved in similar activities were counseled and handed over to their parents under strict supervision.
Cyber Police Srinagar continues to monitor social media for extremist content, incitement to violence, or threats to public order.
Strict legal action will be taken against those violating national integrity, police said, urging users to act responsibly and within legal and ethical norms.
