New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has granted permission for Member of Parliament Er Rashid to attend the second part of the 18th Lok Sabha’s fourth session (March 26 – April 4, 2025) while in custody.

The decision ensures that the people of North Kashmir remain represented in crucial parliamentary discussions.

Welcoming the order, Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi expressed gratitude to the judiciary, stating: “We deeply appreciate the Hon’ble court for upholding democratic values and allowing Er Rashid to fulfill his parliamentary duties despite challenges. This ruling is a victory for democracy and justice. We also extend our sincere thanks to our legal team, led by senior lawyer Advocate N. Hariharan and Advocate Vikhyat Oberoi, for their relentless efforts in securing this decision.”

As per the order, Er Rashid will be escorted from prison to Parliament under police supervision and handed over to Parliament security for each session.

While he will be able to perform his duties as an MP, restrictions will be placed on his media interactions and communication access.
