Pahalgam atttack aftermath: Rahul Gandhi to meet LG Sinha today

Anantnag: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will meet Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today in the wake of Pahalgam attack that left 26 civilians dead and many injured, sources said here.

Gandhi is likely to visit the Army’s Base Hospital in Badamibagh Cantonment to enquire about the health of those injured in the attack, Hindudtan Times reported.

He arrived Srinagar today morning to meet those who were injured in the deadly attack on April 22.

The Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday arrived in Srinagar to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Dwivedi will review security arrangements and visit the site of the Pahalgam attack.

Earlier, the government held an all-party meeting to brief its allies and the opposition about the actions being taken. After the meeting, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, declared that the government has the opposition’s full support “to take any action”.

Leaders across party lines called for decisive action against militancy, even as some opposition parties flagged security lapses in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

Parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju said everyone agreed that India should fight militancy unitedly, and all parties said they are with the government in this fight.
