Turkish Navy ship TCG Büyükada arrived at Karachi Port on Sunday for a ‘goodwill visit’. According to a press release from the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) of the Pakistan Navy, the crew will engage in professional interactions with Pakistan Navy personnel to strengthen maritime cooperation, News18 reported.

The visit underscores growing naval ties between Pakistan and Türkiye amid heightened regional tensions. It comes shortly after the Pahalgam attack in Jammu & Kashmir, where 26 people — including 25 tourists — were killed.

Following the attack, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, sealed the Attari border, cancelled visas of Pakistani nationals, and barred Pakistani ships from Indian ports. Pakistan retaliated by banning Indian-flagged ships from its ports.

Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh said it was his responsibility to protect the country’s borders and deliver a “befitting reply” to those who pose a threat.
