New Delhi: Home Minister of India Amit Shah on Friday said that Operation Sindoor has made it clear that militancy in India is entirely backed by Pakistan.
Speaking at the Rustamji Memorial Lecture during the BSF’s 22nd investiture ceremony, Shah commended the Border Security Force for its crucial role in the operation and for preventing cross-border threats from Pakistan.
“Operation Sindoor has laid bare that terrorism in India is entirely Pakistan-sponsored,” Shah said.
He added that while India specifically targeted terror camps in Pakistan, avoiding military or civilian infrastructure, Pakistan retaliated by attempting to strike Indian bases—further proving its support for terrorist networks.
“They tried to harm our civilians but failed due to our air defence. We then responded by targeting their air base to demonstrate our strength,” Shah said.
Recalling past incidents, Shah said that since the BJP took office in 2014, India has consistently responded firmly to attacks. “From the Uri attack that led to a surgical strike, to the Pulwama attack followed by an air strike, and now the Pahalgam massacre of innocent tourists—Operation Sindoor was our latest answer, and the world has acknowledged it.”
On May 7, India carried out precision strikes on militant infrastructure as retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives.
Pakistan then claimed attacks on Indian military posts on May 8, 9, and 10. The confrontation ended after both countries reached an understanding on May 10, following four days of heavy drone and missile strikes.
