Indian YouTuber Malik SD Khan, known online as ‘Malik Swashbuckler,’ has been detained in Turkey after facing massive backlash over a series of disturbing videos targeting Turkish women.
In the videos, he is seen making vulgar and sexually suggestive comments while roaming the streets, referring to women as “maal” and “item” in Hindi to avoid being understood by locals.
He also uploaded a video where he aggressively enters a shop in Istanbul’s Aksaray area, demanding to see an Indian flag and hurling abuse when refused. In one disturbing clip, he is heard issuing what appears to be a rape threat to a Turkish tour guide.
After Turkish citizens began flagging the videos, prominent Turkish media outlet Turkiye Today reported that Malik had been taken into custody by local authorities.
While officials have yet to issue a formal statement, public outrage led to his YouTube and Instagram accounts being deleted. However, many of his offensive videos continue to circulate on social media.
Malik, who has a following of over 100,000 subscribers, has posted similar videos from various countries, often containing provocative or offensive content.
