Srinagar: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Monday issued an advisory to ensure the safety of students and staff during bad weather.

The advisory comes after recent cloudburst incidents. It directs all Chief Education Officers and Heads of Institutions (HOIs) to follow safety measures to protect students and staff.

Schools, especially those in disaster-prone areas, have been told to stay alert. Teachers and staff must be trained in handling emergencies like heavy rainfall, flash floods, and cloudbursts.

Special instructions have been given to schools near rivers, streams, and lakes. These schools must stay on high alert, keep watch on water levels and weather forecasts, have a clear evacuation plan, and stay in touch with local authorities and disaster management teams.

The order also makes it clear that school heads will be held personally responsible for any lapse in safety. Failure to follow these directions will be treated as a serious issue.
