Bihar: A young Muslim man in Bihar sustained severe head injuries after being attacked by a Hindutva worker during a religious procession, Siasat.com reported.
The assault occurred in Madhubani district when the victim, Mohammed Ibrahim, requested that the procession to lower the DJ volume as it was time for namaz.
The report, quoting witnesses, said a participant reacted angrily, threw away Ibrahim’s cap, and struck him on the head, leaving him badly injured.
Ibrahim’s elder brother, Mohammed Isqar, said that the mosque is near their paternal aunt’s home, where Ibrahim was visiting that day.
“He was sitting inside when the procession lingered near the mosque. At the call for prayers, he stepped out and politely asked them to move forward or reduce the volume. Suddenly, they attacked him. He was alone,” Isqar was quoted as saying.
Ibrahim was taken to a hospital in Madhubani, where he remains under treatment.
