Police raid residences of Hurriyat and Jamat-e-Islami members in Handwara, say officials

Handwara: Police on Wednesday said that in a continued effort to curb unlawful activities and ensure peace and security in the region, Handwara Police conducted targeted searches on October 07, 2025, at the residences of individuals associated with Hurriyat and Jamat-e-Islami (JeI) within the Handwara jurisdiction.

In a statement, the police said that the raids were carried out at the residence of Ghulam Hassan Khan, son of Habibullah Khan, resident of Maidan Chogol, associated with the proscribed Hurriyat, and the residence of Abdul Ahad Lone, son of Abdul Aziz Lone, resident of Wahipora, associated with the proscribed JeI.

These searches were conducted as part of ongoing investigations to ascertain the involvement of the persons in activities that may threaten peace and public order.
