Jammu: Police on Monday said they have apprehended two persons for allegedly assaulting a police sub-inspector in Jammu district.
In a statement issued to GNS, police said that on the evening of December 14, Sub-Inspector Nitin Khajuria, the investigating officer of Police Station Bakshi Nagar, was intercepted and attacked at Gurrah Morh by a group of assailants identified as Rishab, Munna D and two unidentified persons.
The attackers allegedly assaulted the officer with a tokka (a sharp-edged weapon) and also brandished a pistol. Khajuria sustained injuries and was rushed to the Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, for treatment.
Police said an FIR (158/2025) under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar, and special teams were constituted to apprehend the accused.
Using technical and human intelligence, police teams traced the suspects to the Nikki Tawi area. While attempting to flee in the darkness, Rishab and Munna D reportedly fell and sustained injuries. Both were arrested and shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment.
Further investigation is underway, and efforts are on to identify and apprehend the two remaining suspects, the statement said.
