Awantipora: Police in Awantipora have taken prompt action against persons involved in reckless driving and dangerous stunts on Srinagar-Jammu highway, thereby endangering the lives of pedestrians and other road users.
Police Station Awantipora received information that two vehicles were indulging in reckless driving and performing dangerous stunts on the highway.
Acting swiftly on the information, a special police team was constituted under the supervision of SHO Police Station Awantipora, Inspector Ajaz Hmad.
The accused persons, who were driving their vehicles in a rash and negligent manner on NH-44, creating a serious threat to public safety and disrupting smooth traffic movement, were apprehended by the police party. The vehicles involved, namely Hyundai i20 bearing registration number JK13K-2710 and Maruti Baleno bearing registration number JK13G-2714, were seized on the spot. Further legal proceedings are underway as per law.
Apart from legal action, the accused were counselled in the presence of their parents and were strictly warned against repeating such irresponsible behaviour. They were advised to strictly adhere to traffic rules and drive responsibly, especially on busy highways.
J&K Police appeals to the general public, particularly young drivers, to refrain from thrill-seeking on public roads and cooperate with the police to ensure safe and smooth traffic movement on the thoroughfare.
