Srinagar: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Thursday issued a nowcast warning predicting a spell of rain and thundershowers across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir through the late afternoon and evening.

According to the update at 3:30pm, many places in North and Central Kashmir are expected to witness rainfall accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph.

A few areas in South Kashmir and the Jammu division may also receive showers, with chances of hailstorms at isolated locations.

Weather conditions are expected to improve toward the evening.

The MeT department has issued an advisory urging people to stay away from electric poles, old trees and loose structures due to the risk posed by strong winds.

Authorities have also advised suspension of boating and shikara rides across all water bodies until the weather stabilises.
