‘Remain vigilant from July 20 to 23’: Shopian admin issues weather advisory ahead of rainfall forecast; releases helpline

Shopian: In view of the rainfall forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for July 20 to July 23, 2026, the district administration of Shopian has issued a public advisory, urging residents to remain vigilant and strictly follow safety guidelines during the expected spell of rain.

The administration has advised people, particularly those residing in vulnerable areas and in the vicinity of higher reaches, to avoid unnecessary movement near slopes, hilly terrain, and high-altitude areas until weather conditions improve.

To ensure preparedness and a swift response to any eventuality, all departments concerned — including Police, SDRF, Revenue, Agriculture, Horticulture, PWD (R&B), Transport, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), KPDCL, Jal Shakti/PHE, Mechanical Engineering Department (MED), and the Health & Medical Education Department — have been directed to remain on high alert and take all necessary precautionary measures within their respective jurisdictions.

The administration has appealed to the public to stay informed through official weather updates, avoid risky areas during adverse weather, and cooperate with authorities.
