A fire broke out at a raisin products factory in Naroda GIDC Phase 3 of Ahmedabad on Saturday morning. Multiple fire stations of the Ahmedabad Fire Department were engaged in firefighting operations, the Ahmedabad Fire Department said.
The incident at Plot No 28 was reported at around 9.40 am.
Fire tenders from GIDC, Nikol, Naroda, Chandkheda and Shahpur were called to extinguish the flames.
A water bowser has also been deputed from Nikol to help firemen control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjacent factories.
The cause of the fire, damage and injuries, if any, could not be ascertained immediately. The fire department did not specify if any labourers were inside the factory at the time of the incident.
“Further details awaited,” the Ahmedabad Fire Department said in a statement. Firefighting operations were in progress.
Naroda GIDC is a well-known industrial estate and is no stranger to fires. In June, a massive fire was reported at a chemical manufacturing company in Naroda GIDC.
