Jammu: Jammu Zone Inspector General of Police Tejinder Singh on Wednesday said the police would step up their campaign against drug-related activities, including property attachments and recoveries, while strengthening the security network to ensure peace and stability across the region.
Singh made the remarks after taking the salute at a Police Commemoration Day event in Jammu. He also laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial in the Rail Head area to pay homage to police personnel who lost their lives while performing their duties and safeguarding the region.
Highlighting the importance of effective policing, the IGP said priority would be given to strengthening basic policing and ensuring a visible police presence within areas under police jurisdiction.
“From the security perspective, whether it is the border, the Line of Control (LoC), or internal security dynamics, we will further strengthen the security grid and make every possible effort to maintain peace and tranquillity,” he told reporters.
Speaking about the ongoing anti-drug campaign, Singh said enforcement measures, including the attachment and recovery of properties linked to drug-related activities, were continuing. He added that some further recoveries had been made recently.
The IGP said the campaign against drugs in the Jammu Zone would be intensified in the coming days, noting that efforts were already moving in that direction.
Remembering the sacrifices of police personnel, Singh reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining peace and tranquillity in the region. He said the most meaningful tribute to the fallen personnel would be to protect lives, strengthen security and prevent similar incidents in the future.
