US President Donald Trump got into a heated exchange with reporters in the White House on Tuesday, talking over reporters and telling one fellow journalist to “be careful” in an angry Oval Office press conference.
The bars came after Trump and Vice President JD Vance announced a new Fraud Whistle-blower Incentive Programme, which could pay rewards of up to $30,000 for information resulting in the arrest and conviction, as reported by The Economic Times.
Trump eventually grew annoyed by journalists yelling questions at him. “Who wrote that question? Sorry. Who wrote that question? Sorry. Go ahead, go ahead,” Trump said to a female reporter. “Wait. Shh. No, no, no. Wait, wait, wait,” he added.
He subsequently responded to Andrew Feinberg, the White House reporter for The Independent, after the journalist enquired about the programme and other topics.
“Look, I don’t know who the f*ck you are, but you better back off,” Trump told Feinberg, according to The New Republic.
He then ordered the cameraman to stop filming and said: “Why don’t you shut up? What do you have to say for yourself? Are you a psycho?”
Feinberg answered, “Not that I am aware of sir.”
The crossings drew attention to Trump’s ever more heated exchanges with the press during official public appearances. Vice President Vance also directed a social media attack at Feinberg, prompting a public response by the reporter.
