Srinagar: The Kashmir Valley experienced a sharp drop in night temperatures as most areas recorded sub-zero levels, intensifying the winter chill.
Shopian emerged as the coldest place, with the mercury plummeting to a freezing -6.3°C. Pulwama followed closely at -5.7°C, while Anantnag and Kulgam recorded -5.5°C and -5.2°C, respectively.
Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination, shivered at -5.0°C, with Qazigund and Bandipora both recording -4.0°C. Budgam saw temperatures drop to -4.4°C, Ganderbal to -4.1°C, and Kupwara to -4.2°C.
The summer capital, Srinagar, recorded a low of -3.4°C, while Baramulla and Kokernag experienced -2.9°C and -3.9°C, respectively.
The freezing temperatures are expected to persist, with meteorological forecasts predicting clear skies and colder nights ahead.
