JK principal accountant general calls for environmental audits to mitigate disaster risks in JK

Jammu: Principal Accountant General (PAG) Jammu and Kashmir K P Yadav hoisted the national flag of India at his office headquarter in Jammu today.

During his speech Yadav raised his concern about the natural disasters happening due to climate change. He expressed anguish over the destruction that took place in Chositi Kishtwar. Principal Auditor General said that carrying out environmental audits while execution of developmental works is the need of the hour and it will help reduce such incidents.

PAG emphasised that the government has initiated several programmes and schemes for the welfare of the public and highlighting the shortcomings in their implementation and suggesting ways to improve them is our job.

He also pointed out that Dharali and Kishtwar incidents are manifestations of interference with nature and there had been environmental degradation in JK and carrying out environmental audits in its true letter and spirit will help reduce these incidents. During the function Yadav distributed letters of commendations among his staff for their meritorious work.
