66 kg of narcotics seized from cross LoC trade truck: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday seized narcotics from a truck coming from ‘Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK)’ to this side as a part of cross LOC trade at Trade Centre Salamabad, Uri in Baramulla.

Police in a statement said, “Acting on a specific information about the transportation of narcotic drugs from POK to this side by means of cross LOC trade, a police team during checking at Trade Centre Salamabad, Uri in Baramulla recovered 66.5 kilograms of narcotic drugs which appeared to be heroine from a truck bearing registration number XA-267.”

The statement further added that the truck driver has bee taken into custody.

“The drugs were hidden in fake cavities specifically fabricated for this purpose in boxes purportedly to contain mercantile goods. The Truck driver  identified as Syed Yousuf has been taken into custody,” said the statement

Baramulla police has registered a case under section 29 NDPS Act and further investigation has been taken up.
