Steel bombs, swords recovered from BJP office in Kannur, Kerala

Kerala: Kerala Police has recovered lethal weapons from the BJP’s office in Kannur, reported India Today, a newspaper based in India.

The local police in Panoor area in Kannur recovered a sword and 3 steel bombs from the premises of the BJP office in the city.

This after search operations were carried out in the wake of a recent attack on a CPM rally, allegedly by RSS-BJP activists.

Only a few days ago, Amit Shah had slammed the Left government in Kerala over the political killings of BJP and RSS workers in the state. Senior CPM leader then hit back at the BJP, saying it was actually a case of “the pot calling the kettle black” and that the BJP had always resorted to clashes and violence to expand their presence in the country.

The BJP recently launched the Jan Raksha Yatra, which was also attended by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath to protest against the killings of BJP and RSS cadres in Kerala.

BJP chief Amit Shah on Sunday attacked the CPI(M) and Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan for the political murders of BJP and RSS workers+ in the state.
“Communist Party should be ashamed, most murders took place in the chief minister’s area. Over 120 BJP-RSS workers have been killed+ since Communists came to power,” Shah charged ahead of a protest march against the CPI(M) in Delhi.

Kerala has been witnessing violence involving the workers of the BJP-RSS combine and the CPI(M). The two opposing sides have faced killings of their workers and attacks on their offices.

Several political killings have been reported in the state since the Left Democratic Front government led by the CPI(M) came to power in May 2016. Both sides charge the other for the violence.

The abrupt withdrawal of BJP national president Amit Shah from the ‘Jana Raksha Yatra’ in Kerala against the recent killings of RSS workers, after he flagged it off with much fanfare, left many wondering about what went wrong.

At the party’s recent “extended” national executive meet in New Delhi, top leaders repeatedly talked about intensifying their campaign against political violence in opposition-ruled states like Kerala, West Bengal and Tripura. It was apparent that raking up the issue of political murders of BJP and RSS activists would be one of the prioritised strategies for the party against the opposition it is facing from the Trinamool Congress and Communist Party of India (Marxist) at the state and national levels.
