Three militants arrested in ongoing Kund operation: Police

Srinagar: Inspector General of Police Munir Khan on Thursday, in a joint presser with the army and the CRPF said that three militants have been arrested in the in the ongoing operation in the Kund area of Kulgam.

Khan added that the militants were not killed despite the death of a soldier during the gun fight.

Despite losing a soldier, we arrested three militants,” said Khan, adding that “one of the militants Atta Muhammad Malik was taken to a hospital by the forces in a critical condition.”

He said that Malik could have died if the forces had not rushed him to a hospital.

“He was lying in a pool of blood and he had been hit by bullets in his legs. He was on the verge of death but soldiers took him to a hospital,” said Khan. “He is out of danger now”.

Khan said that a joint operation was launched in the Kund area on Nov 14 after “specific” inputs about the presence of a big group of militants of Lashkar and Hizb.

“A militant Muzamil and a soldier were killed on the first day of encounter,” he said.

Khan said that they will let a local militant live and lead a normal life even if he “raises hand” during a gunfight.

“We will help him to return to his home and lead a normal life,” he said.
