Burglars uproot ATM machine from hospital in Shopian

Srinagar: An ATM machine installed in the premises of a hospital in Shopian was uprooted by suspected burglars. The ATM machine had Rs. 4.28 Lakh in it.

People who live close to the site said that the operation was so ‘silent’ that no one heard a sound.

The ATM Kiosk was installed at a crowded space with a provisional store on one side and the accommodation of  the hospital drivers on the other side.

One of the drivers said that a patient was brought in around 2.30 am.

“Till then the ATM was at its place. However, in the morning it was missing,” said one of the drivers.

The ATM is guarded “properly” but the guards have hired a room in Malik Mohalla where they were resting when the machine was taken away.

Police have registered a case and interrogated some of the people living close to it. No arrests have been made so far.

Its pertinent to mention that it’s a first of its kind case in Shopian.
