Police, civil administration holds counselling session for youth who got amnesty

Srinagar: District Police Anantnag along with Civil Administration has organized a counseling session for youth who were given amnesty by government of Jammu and Kashmir in stone pelting activities at Dak Bungalow Anantnag.

The session was ‘aimed to build an understanding to find ways and means to prevent recurrence of violent incidents in future and to develop confidence among the youth’.

During the session, the police says, a patient hearing was given to the participants. According to the police, most of the boys were of opinion that getting involved in stone pelting on their part inflicts ‘irreparable damage to the social fabric’, which is not good to anybody but creates chaos and anarchy.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag Altaf Ahmad urged youth to concentrate on their career and work hard to make up the loss they suffered in their education from past years.

Prominent citizen of the town who spoke on the occasion appreciated the initiative of the Anantnag police and urged that exploitation of the youth needs to be stopped.

Earlier, officials of the state and the union government in a meeting had decided that cases against first time stone pelters should be withdrawn.
