Srinagar: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said that the state was neither a party to the partition nor did we support division on religious lines.
Mehbooba wrote on the micro-blogging site Twitter, that she strongly condemns the statement which asked the Muslims in India to demand a separate land. She, however didn’t name the person who made the statement.
J&K was neither a party to the partition of our country nor did we support division on religious lines. We as a state opted for the opposite but unfortunately are still paying the price. I strongly condemn any statement made asking for Muslims in India to demand a separate state.

On Tuesday, Deputy Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam in a presser had said that India is moving towards intolerance and it’s time for Indian Muslims to demand a separate country. While reacting regarding the recent Shopian Murders in which three boys were murdered by the Army, Islam said that India is an ‘occupier’ and sooner or later they will have to leave.
