Kathua Rape and Murder: Crime Branch’s report should be tabled in the Assembly, demands PDP legislator

Jammu: Peoples Democratic Party legislator from Rajouri Choudhary Qamar Hussain on Wednesday demanded that Crime Branch status report about the rape and murder of the minor Kathua girl should be tabled in the State Assembly.

The legislator raised the demand during zero hour in the House.

The girl was raped and murdered in Heeranagar area of Kathua district. The incident sparked massive protests forcing government to suspend a police officer and hand over the case to Crime Branch.

Hussain, who was detained during protests against the murder earlier this week, said that the persons involved in this “heinous crime” are not being punished because of “political influence”.

Addressing a presser after his release in Jammu, he said that circumstantial evidence on the basis of doctors’ version and people who gave her ceremonial bath suggest that girl was “brutally raped”.

“Her two ribs and a leg were broken. She was given electric shocks. She was clubbed by stones,” said Hussain.
