Kashmir to host biggest tourism convention after 1988, says report

Srinagar: The valley of Kashmir is preparing to host the biggest tourism event in nearly three decades, reported the Economic Times. 

According to the report, the major policy makers and tourism players across India will be in the valley in March to attend the biggest convention in three decades.

Kashmir has hosted the even seven times. However all those took place before 1988 after which the armed insurgency started.

The convention usually happens at a global destination however, this time, Kashmir last month grabbed the opportunity to host the annual convention of the Travel Agents Assocaition of India (TAAI).

The event was initially to take take place in China.

More than 500 influential tourism players are expected to visit the valley to explore the beauty, rich culture and heritage of the place. Over 10 tourism players from foreign countries and representatives of various states are also expected to attend the 64th convention of TAAI, the report said.
