JKLF holds prayers in absentia for activist killed in firing in Pakistan-administered Kashmir

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Friday held funeral prayers in absentia for the party activist killed in police firing in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. JKLF chairman Yasin Malik and scores of the party activists took part in the prayers held after weekly congregational prayers at Abi Guzar in Srinagar.

JKLF activist Naeem Butt was killed after police opened fire on protesters opposing cross-border shelling along the border in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

In a statement on Wednesday Malik had said that the killing of the of JKLF activist Naeem Ahmad Butt of Rawalakot, Pakistan administered Kashmir marks the continuation of the struggle and sacrifices rendered by Kashmiris for freedom.

Malik stated that there should be a impartial probe into the killing of Butt.

“Instead of using foul language against freedom lovers, government of Pakistan Administered Kashmir should call for an impartial judicial probe into firing on peaceful protest at Madarpor near ceasefire line (LOC) and take action against the culprits who killed Naeem Butt with impunity,” Malik said in a statement.

JKLF chairman said that Kashmiris living on both forcibly separated sides of Kashmir alongside the Line of Control are bearing the brunt of a dispute left unresolved by the international community.

“Our young and old, children and women are falling prey to the bombs and bullets and on 16th March 2018, JKLF had called for a peaceful march against the same, during which Naeem Butt along with many others received the bullets from ‘Azad Kashmir’ police on their bodies and finally Naeem succumbed to his wounds yesterday and attained martyrdom,” Malik said.

JKLF chairman said that the departure of this young passionate Kashmiri has pierced our hearts and souls and nation of Kashmir shares the pain and agony of his bereaved family.
