Kashmiri student not kidnapped, picked up by Delhi Police cyber cell, says JKP

A Kashmiri student, identified as Adil Hussain Teli, was ‘kidnapped’ by unknown gunmen as reported earlier, has been picked up by the Cyber Cell of the Delhi Police, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a statement.

According to the police, Teli was picked up for alleged hacking and economic offences.

The statement of the police said, “This refers to the news item appearing on social networking sites and circulated by some media houses that a youth Adil Hussain Teli son of Mohammad Hussain Teli resident of Noonmai, Yaripora Kulgam has been abducted by some armed personnel in the morning hours from his rented accommodation at Mithu Basti Jalandar, Punjab where he was pursuing his Bachelors Degree in Computer Applications from St. Soldiers Group Of Institutions.”

The statement further added, “The matter was instantly taken up with the officials of Punjab Police which informed the authorities in J&K that the said person has been taken into custody by the Cyber Cell of Delhi police and is being investigated for his alleged involvement in hacking and economic offences. Authorities in JKP are in touch with their counterparts as well.”

The statement also said that the family of the Teli has also been informed.
