A delegation of Kashmir’s premiere trade body, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) headed by its President, Javid Ahmad Tenga called on the Finance Minister today to discuss and seek extension of amnesty on demand of taxes and interest/penalty.
The amnesty was granted earlier under Government order No:39 FD on February 5, 2018.
The Finance Minister had instructed the Principal Secretary to Government, Finance Department, Navin Chowdhary to examine the issue for a further extension of the amnesty by 45 days. The delegation accordingly called on the Principal Secretary to Finance Department to discuss the matter with him. The principal Secretary also assured that the issue will be addressed on priority.
Earlier, KCCI had urged the Jammu and Kashmir government to take up the reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel with the Union government.

In a statement, KCCI had said that the state government should take up the matter to reduce petrol and diesel prices with the union government.
“Kashmir, being in a critical condition, it was time to revisit the state levies on petrol and diesel and urgently take up the reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel with the Union Government,” the statement quoted KCCI president Javed Ahmad Tenga as having stated.
