Mowing down of youth: A case of ‘rash driving’ has been registered when it is plain murder, says JRL

The Joint Resistance Leadership while strongly condemned the killing of another youth by the forces by mowing him down said that a case of “rash driving” has been registered by the police in this regard as if the incident happened by accident ,when it is a case of plain murder.

“The accused would anyway go scott free under AFSPA, “the JRL leadership comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik said in a statement.

A case of rioting was also registered against the protesters.

JRL said the that assaulting mourners during the funeral and burial Kaiser with tear gas shells and pellets causing grave injuries to scores of them again reflects the authorities anti people and inhuman approach .

JRL said that repeatedly imposing curfew and severe restrictions , snapping internet connection, barricading roads and alleys ,stationing of forces at every nook and corner even in the holy month of Ramadan causing grave inconvenience and harassment to the people is uncalled for and highly condemn-able .

“All these repressive measures are big stumbling blocks for peace in Kashmir and any kind of engagement, ” the statement pointed out.

JRL also regretted that the rally at Aali Masjid to pay homage to Muhajir-e-Millat Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah while recalling his great services and contribution in the field of religion and politics on his 51st death anniversary was also not allowed by the authorities as restrictions were put in place and leadership detained.

JRL thanked people for protesting the killings of Kashmiri’s, intimidation and desecration of Jamia Masjid and vandalisation of Houses and graveyards at the hands of forces by observing a complete shutdown against these oppressive measures.

The incident comes days after civilian Adil Ahmed Yadoo was mowed down by a police armoured vehicle on May 5, during protests in Safa Kadal, Srinagar.
