Resident Doctor’s Association of SMHS calls for indefinite strike, demand pay at par with doctors of SKIMS

Srinagar: The Resident Doctor’s Association (RDA) of SMHS hospital on Monday announced an indefinite strike from Tuesday onwards, withdrawing all services- emergencies and intensive care units- in lieu of the Resident’s demands.

“We had no intention of causing unnecessary inconvenience to the general public. We have served people in extremely harsh conditions and were happy in continuing to do so but the callous attitude of the administration viz a viz our genuine grievances despite repeated communications over the past six months, has left us with no option but to take this drastic step,” they stated in the press.

They added that they had been given a written assurance that their demands would be met but nothing concrete had come out of it.

“We again reiterate our demands that Senior Residents, post graduates and Junior Residents will be provided same basic pay and grade pay with all the allowances including NPA as is being provided to the Resident Doctors of SKIMS Soura,” they said.
