Amid revolt in party, PDP MLAs meet Mehbooba

Srinagar: Amid rising dissidence in PDP, the incumbent party MLAs continued one-on-one meetings with party chief Mehbooba Mufti from last Saturday when she returned after a weeklong stay in Delhi.

A senior PDP leader told Srinagar-based news gathering agency, KNS that after meeting about more than a dozen MLAs on last Saturday and eight more MLAs on Sunday at her Gupkar residence, the total number of MLAs who called on PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has risen to more than twenty.

“The legislators advised Mehbooba to explore all possibilities to reconcile the dissident legislators for addressing their grievances genuinely,” the news agency reported.

On last Saturday, Mufti on Sunday met most of the legislators of south Kashmir.

However the frontline dissident leader and former minister Imran Raza Ansari said, “I will not attend the meeting even if invited by the party president.”

Another party MLA said, “We wanted discussion on several party matters and the working of the government many a times in the past but were not given a chance to be heard by the party president.”

A senior PDP leader on condition of anonymity said that leaders who met Mufti on Sunday was their routine meeting with the party chief “as they were insisting for meeting with the party chief for a very long time and today they were called for discussion”.
