Defence personnel among main accused in gangraping ex-CBSE topper

A defence personnel who is currently stationed in Rajasthan has been revealed as the main accused in the Rewari gangrape case, police said on Saturday, ANI reported.

BS Sandhu, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Haryana, said that the police will soon get a warrant for him while the other two will be arrested soon.

Earlier, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed on Friday after an ex-CBSE topper alleged kidnapping and rape by 12 men in Haryana’s Narnaul in the Mahendragarh district.

The head of the SIT, Nazneen Bhasin, the Police Superintendent of Nuh met with the victim at a Rewari hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

“I have spoken to the girl today, her condition is stable. The main accused have been identified. We are investigating every aspect of the case,” Bhasin said.

On Saturday, Sudarshan Panwar, medical superintendent, Rewari district hospital said, “The girl’s condition is stable and she’s recovering from trauma. Her X-ray and ultrasound reports are normal. We will continue to review her condition regularly.”

Earlier, in the details the victim gave to the police, she alleged that she was raped until she fell unconscious and later dumped at a bus stand. Accordingly, she was on her way back from a coaching centre near her village in Rewari when three young men arrived in a car allegedly kidnapped her and dragged her to a field, where they raped her.A few other men who were already at the field also took turns to rape her, the police said. The woman alleged that all the men are from her village.Her parents alleged that initially, the police refused to file an FIR which led them to run from once police station to the next to file a complaint after the alleged accused had threatened them.

“My daughter was rewarded by Modi ji after she topped the CBSE board exams. Modi ji says ‘beti padhobeti bacho‘, but how? I want justice for my daughter. Police have taken no action yet,” the woman’s mother told news agency ANI.
