Rajasthan: A 19-year-old Dalit youth from Sikar, Rajasthan, has accused two men of sexually assaulting him, urinating on him, physically attacking him, and hurling caste-based slurs.
As per the FIR, the incident occurred on April 8, though it was reported only on April 16.
The complainant stated he delayed filing the complaint out of fear, as the accused had allegedly recorded videos of the assault.
However, according to Deputy SP Arvind Kumar, an independent witness denied seeing any video recording or urination and said the victim had only mentioned physical assault, not sexual violence, as reported by Indian Express.
The FIR states that the youth’s family was at a wedding when he left home to watch the DJ. On his way, the accused, allegedly drunk, stopped him and asked him to accompany them to a bus station. Instead, they took him to a secluded area, verbally abused him with casteist insults, and said they would’ve targeted his father—who was abroad—but chose him instead.
The youth alleged the two men beat him with sticks and alcohol bottles, forced him to undress, sexually assaulted him, and recorded the act. He claimed he was left “half-dead” and threatened with death if he spoke up. When he experienced severe pain while urinating, he informed his family and filed the complaint.
The FIR includes charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for criminal force, kidnapping, wrongful restraint, intimidation, and causing hurt, along with sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the IT Act for circulating explicit content, Indian Express reported.
DSP Kumar said the investigation is ongoing, and medical and forensic reports will provide clarity. He also noted that the alleged location of the incident is a public route with frequent vehicle movement, raising questions about the timeline and circumstances described.
The incident has triggered political reactions. Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra condemned the BJP, accusing the party of failing Dalits despite its inclusive slogans. Former CM Ashok Gehlot urged current CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, who was in Sikar at the time, to visit the youth’s family and ensure justice.
Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully called the case “barbaric” and said it reflects the grim reality of Dalit atrocities in the state.
