Srinagar: Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik on Friday in a statement said that slain militant Manan Bashir Wani represents the passion for dignity and freedom.
The spokesman said that in Manan’s words “Kashmiris don’t feel dignity in death but feel dignity in fighting.” He said that how the people of Kashmir nation whose sons like Wani are being snatched by the rulers can vote in elections.
Meanwhile, JKLF leaders and activists today gathered at Lal Chowk in Srinagar and staged a protest “killing spree, arrests, and ongoing municipal election drama”.
Led by JKLF zonal general secretary Sheikh Abdul Rashid, JKLF activists including Meraj ud din Parray, Muhammad Hanif Dar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, M Aslam Sheikh, Muhammad Ibrahim Quraishi, Fayaz Ahmad Lone, and Shakir Ahmad Aahangar and others gathered near Lal Chowk and staged a peaceful protest there.
While paying homage to slain militants, protesters asked people to stay away from municipal elections in Jammu Kashmir. Meanwhile, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik who is in police custody from past ten days, along with other JKLF leaders including Noor Muhammad Kalwal and Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi and others, conveyed to his party spokesperson that Manan represents the soul and passion of struggle for dignity and freedom.
“Though the loss of such a scholar is too painful for Kashmiri nation but a matter of pride too,” the spokesman quoted Malik as saying.
