Tampering with PRC regulations a ‘deliberate attempt to change JK’s demography’, says Sehrai

Srinagar: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Chairman Mohd Ashraf Sehrai on Tuesday said that the contemplated change into the procedure of issuing Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) a deliberate attempt to change J&K’s demography.

He said, “the resistance leadership has a clear stand against the anti-Kashmir and anti-people policies and made it clear that the policies which are against the Kashmiri people and their security would not be allowed. The utter purpose of these efforts is to convert Muslim majority into a minority in Jammu & Kashmir so that desired results can be achieved in the plebiscite under the United Nations.”

Sehrai expressing serious apprehensions over the “wicked plan” of issuing PRCs said, “India and its “anti-Kashmir” politicians are hell bent to change the demographic character of Kashmir which was a “long dream of RSS and its fascist ideological” people to tamper the State Subject laws.”

He said, “it is a desperate attempt to change the Muslim majority status and to counter the pro-freedom resistance in every respect. Although Kashmiris have striving for the right to self determination and resisted valiantly since decades against Indian occupation however, defending such Grave issues become inevitable due to its potential to change the demography of the state.”

He said the change in demography of J&K would have an impact in the plebiscite later. Sehrai reiterated that the only purpose of the demographic change is to convert Kashmiris into minority and deprive them of their fundamental right–right of self-determination.

Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) General Secretary Ameer Hamzah Shah has strongly denounced the house arrest of its party Chairman Mohd Ashraf Sehrai.

He said, “this anti-human acts of the administration and violation of the every fundamental rights is a first and last resort of Authorities” and termed it as “revenge” policy against resistance leadership.

“The Crack down on the resistance leadership activists and workers, detentions and house arrests, and curbs made it clear that such tactics had never worked against the resistance movement in the past nor would they in the future.”

He said the government did not have the courage to fight the resistance leadership politically and as such banning their peaceful activities, placing curbs on their movement and arresting them, and in a way accepting their defeat.
