The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry has condemned the repetitive killings of innocent and unarmed civilians by the armed forces.
In a statement, KCCI said that the latest in the series of such fatalities, has resulted in 7 civilians losing their lives and more than a hundred being injured in Kharpora Sirnoo, Pulwama.
“The KCC&I has time and again urged for cessation of hostile operations in civilian areas and demanded resolution of the dispute of our State through a structured, meaningful and effective dialogue amongst stakeholders,” the statement said.
The statement further added, “The policy of killing innocents with impunity needs to stop. We urge for accountability and demand exemplary punishment of those involved in the killings.”
KCCI urged that the policy makers need to realize that the use of brutal force against civilian population is yielding no results except creating a situation of chaos and anarchy in the State.
“We appeal to human rights organisations, wherever they be, to take note of the repeated violations and the naked acts of aggression against unarmed civil population seeking peaceful resolution to the conflict. We see no end in sight to the bloodshed unless the international community, which has so far chosen to watch silently, intervenes and ensures that steps are taken for settlement of the dispute.”
Seven civilians were killed after armed forces opened fire on protesters near the site of a gunfight in Kharpora Sarnoo village of Pulwama district today morning. Three militants and an army man were killed in the gunfight.
Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a three-day shutdown and mourning in Kashmir and urged people to march towards the army base in Badami Bagh in Srinagar on Monday.
National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah while reacting on the Pulwama civilian killings said that it is a massacre and there is no other way to describe it.
Earlier, Abdullah while reacting to the civilian killings had said that it was ‘another blood soaked weekend in Kashmir’
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti while reacting to the civilian killings has said that there would be no probe which would bring back the dead. She also asked that ‘is this what was expected from the Governor rule’?
She also said that no country can win a war by killing its own people.
