JNU sedition case: For electoral gains, New Delhi playing vindictive politics, says JRL

Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Tuesday condemned the charge-sheet against seven Kashmiri students in the 2016 sedition case.

The JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik demanded the withdrawal of the charges and added that it will ruin their careers.

Chairman of the Hurriyat (M), in a tweet, termed it as vindictive politics for electoral gains.

The Delhi Police had on Monday filed a chargesheet at a city court against Kanhaiya Kumar, seven Kashmiris and others, saying he was leading a procession and supported “seditious slogans” raised on the varsity campus in February 2016.

PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti questioned the timing of filing of charge sheet and said that Kashmiris are being used to score political points ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

A Delhi court Tuesday fixed January 19 for consideration of charge sheet against all the accused.
