Militants killed in Hajin gunfight were foreigners associated with LeT, says Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday identified the two militants killed in the Hajin gunfight and said that both were foreigners. Cops added that both were associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba.

“Two militants known only by their alias’s as Ali and Hubaid of LeT outfit were killed in the Hajin encounter”, SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik said.

According to the police the 10-year-old kid, Aatif, who was allegedly taken hostage was also killed.

He said, “The kid who was taken hostage by the trapped militants was killed by Ali, one of the longest-surviving militants before the teams could reach to the third floor in which he was hiding to rescue the child.”

Malik  added that it is believed that Ali was also involved in civilian killings in Hajin.

He said two AK47 rifles and a huge cache of arms and warlike stores were recovered from the encounter site.
