Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that the accused involved in the alleged rape of a girl is not a juvenile as claimed by the school authorities.
Police said a special Investigation team has been constituted to probe the incident.
“The accused has been arrested. Punishment will be awarded by the court as per law. The accused is not juvenile,” a top police officer told Kashmir News Service (KNS).
Meanwhile, protests erupted at several places in Kashmir with people observing shutdown and protests against the heinous crime.
Cops also summoned the Principal of the school who issued a ‘fake certificate’ in favour of the accused.
