JK reports 444 COVID cases, tally reaches 21,416

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday informed that the erstwhile state has reported 444 new COVID cases, during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infections in JK to 21,416.

Besides positive cases, the spokesman in a statement said that 8 COVID deaths were also reported from Kashmir division.

Moreover, 256 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals- 123 from Jammu division and 133 from Kashmir.

According to the daily media bulletin, out of 21,416 positive cases, 7,893 are Active Positive, 13127 have recovered and 396 have died- 28 in Jammu division and 368 in Kashmir.

The bulletin further said that out of 6,54,117 test results available, 6,32,701 samples have been tested as negative till August 02, 2020.

Additionally, till date, 3,72,929 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 45,818 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6 in Hospital Quarantine, 7,893 in hospital isolation and 40801 under home surveillance.

Besides, 2,78,015 persons have completed their surveillance period.

The administration said that it also evacuated about 2,79,203 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received 102 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 85,298 passengers while about 1,93,905 persons from other states and UTs including 904 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.
