COVID claims 3 more lives in JK, toll mounts to 399

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported three COVID deaths since overnight, thus mounting the number of deaths to 399, official sources said on Monday.

They said that one among the victims was a 65-year-old from New Colony Sopore who died at Sub District hospital Sopore in the north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Another patient had tested positive after his rapid antigen test was done at Bandipora on July 31, they added.

The man breathed his last at in Sopore hospital, sources said adding that the patient was having co-morbidities with Hypertension and type 2 diabetes, a local news agency GNS reported.

Meanwhile, an 85-year-old man from Safa Kadal Srinagar died at SKIMS Soura while a 60-year-old man from Simbal Morh in Miran Sahib area of Jammu also became the victim of the deadly virus.

On Sunday, the Jammu and Kashmir administration informed that the erstwhile state has reported 444 new COVID cases, during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infections in JK to 21,416.

Besides positive cases, the spokesman in a statement said that 8 COVID deaths were also reported from Kashmir division.

Moreover, 256 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals – 123 from Jammu division and 133 from Kashmir.

According to the daily media bulletin, out of 21,416 positive cases, 7,893 are Active Positive, 13,127 have recovered and 396 have died – 28 in Jammu division and 368 in Kashmir.
