JK reports 499 fresh COVID infections, 15,708 recovered so far

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Thursday informed that 499 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus- 73 from Jammu and 426 from Kashmir, were reported today, pushing the total number of cases to 23454.

Besides this, ten COVID deaths were reported- 03 from Jammu and 07 from Kashmir.

Moreover, 464 more patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 105 from Jammu and 359 from Kashmir.

According to the daily media bulletin, out of 23454 positive cases, 7310 are Active Positive, 15708 have recovered and 436 have died- 34 in Jammu and 402 in Kashmir division.

The bulletin further said that out of 686808 test results available, 663354 samples have been tested as negative till August 06, 2020.

Additionally, till date 381410 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43098 persons at home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7310 in isolation and 43640 under home surveillance. Besides, 286926 persons have completed their surveillance period.

The administration said that it has evacuated about 2,88,699 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received 106 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 88,570 passengers while about 2,00,129 persons from other states and UTs including 904 from abroad have been evacuated through Lakhanpur till date.
