A week after sustaining injuries in Cross LoC firing in Kupwara, man dies at hospital in Srinagar

Srinagar: A week after receiving injuries in shelling between the armies of India and Pakistan along Line of Control in Kupwara district, a 55-year-old man succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning at a hospital in Srinagar.

Official sources said that the man identified as Mahommad Yakoob Mir, son of Barkatullah Mir, a resident of Kachatiya Baghbeela Tanghdar, succumbed to the injuries at SKIMS Soura.  Mir had suffered forehead splinter injury, they said.

On August 6, Mir along with two more people was referred to the tertiary care hospital from Kupwara after getting critically injured as India and Pakistan troops exchanged gunfire and mortar shells along the Line of Control in Kupwara district.

On the same day, Mohammad Arif from Shamspora, succumbed to the injuries.

In all six civilians, one of them a woman, were injured and three of the critically wounded were shifted to SKIMS for the advanced treatment, they added.
