434 fresh cases take JK COVID tally to 29,326, deaths at 561

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Tuesday informed that 434 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus were detected today, thus taking the total number of COVID cases in JK to 29326.

Besides positive cases, 13 COVID deaths have been reported from Kashmir in the last 24 hours.

Moreover, 590 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 110 from the Jammu division and 480 from Kashmir.

According to the daily bulletin, out of 29326 positive cases, 6879 are Active Positive, 21886 have recovered and 561 have died; 41 in Jammu division and 520 in Kashmir division.

The bulletin further said that out of 811167 test results available, 781841 samples have been tested as negative till August 18, 2020.

Additionally, till date, 418363 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42307 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6879 in isolation and 44529 under home surveillance. Besides, 324087 persons have completed their surveillance period.

The administration said that it has evacuated about 3,24,884 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received 118 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 100,185 passengers while about 2,24,699 persons from other states and UTs including 906 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.

As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 2726 stranded passengers have entered through Lakhanpur from August 17 to August 18 mornings while 1029 passengers have reached today in the 97th Delhi COVID special train at Jammu. So far, 97 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 84,489 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains, so far.
