JK reports 708 fresh COVID cases, 22,497 recovered so far

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday informed that 708 fresh cases of COVID were detected today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in JK to 30034.

Kashmir also reported 11 COVID deaths during the last 24 hours.

Moreover, 611 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 175 from Jammu and 436 from Kashmir.

According to the daily bulletin, out of 30034 positive cases, 6965 are Active Positive, 22497 have recovered and 572 have died; 41 in Jammu division and 531 in Kashmir.

The bulletin further said that out of 822574 test results available, 792540 samples have been tested as negative till August 19, 2020.

Additionally, till date, 421057 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42323 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6965 in isolation and 44417 under home surveillance. Besides, 326780 persons have completed their surveillance period.

The administration also said that it evacuated about 3,29,220 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received 119 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 101,244 passengers while about 2,27,976 persons from other states and UTs including 906 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.

As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 3277 stranded passengers have entered through Lakhanpur from August 19 to August 20 mornings while 1059 passengers have reached today in the 98th Delhi COVID special train at Jammu. So far, 98 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 85,548 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains, so far.
