COVID tally in India crosses 5.1 million, rapidly nearing ‘worst-hit’ US tally of 6.8 million

In the last 24 hours, India has recorded 97,894 COVID cases, thus taking its tally to past 5.1 million mark.

According to data shown by Worldometer, India has 51,18,253 Coronavirus cases, death toll risen by 1,139 stands at 83,230 and recoveries are at 40,25,079. With this, India is rapidly nearing the US tally of 6.8 million.

Delhi recorded its highest ever spike of 4,473 COVID cases, pushing the caseload to over 230,000. Maharashtra and West Bengal recorded 23,365 and 4,123 news, cases respectively.

West Bengal’s tally has jumped to 212,383. Uttarakhand recorded 21,401 new cases in the past one month. Significantly, this is 64 per cent of the total cases reported so far in the hill state.

Worldwide, the COVID tally stands at 30,024,106, 21,776,977 have recovered and 944,643 have died so far. The US, the worst-hit country, has 6,826,800 cases, followed by India with 5,118,253 cases.
